UAV Forensic Analysis and Software Tools Assessment: DJI Phantom 4 and Matrice 210 as Case Studies

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) also known as drones have created many challenges to the digital forensic field. These are introduced in all processes of investigation (i.e., identification, preservation, examination, documentation, and reporting). From identification evidence reporting, there several caused by data type, source evidence, multiple components that operate UAVs. In this paper, we comprehensively reviewed current UAV investigative techniques from perspectives. Moreover, contributions paper follows: (1) discovery personal identifiable information, (2) test evaluation currently available software tools, (3) discussion on storage mechanism structure two DJI models (e.g., Phantom 4 Matrice 210), (4) exploration flight trajectories recovered UAVs using a three-dimensional (3D) visualization software. The aforementioned aim aid investigators encounter posed addition, apply our testing, evaluation, analysis selected including 210, which not been presented previous works.
